Three Essential Food Types That Get Your Kids Through The Day

Thanks to fast food, your kids are more likely to make a meal out of junk than to eat the healthy food that they really need. So it is your job as a parent to make the most out of mealtime for you kids.

There are only really three basic food groups that your children should try to eat from as often as possible every day. The first is carbohydrates, which provide the energy we need to operate. Then there are proteins and finally fruits and vegetables.

The functions of the body rely on the nutrients provided by these foods in order to operate functionally. If your body doesn’t get what it needs, like a car running out of gas, your body will begin to slow down.

The carbohydrate category provides the essential energy elements that your kids need just to move around during the day. Carbohydrates are contained in grains, cereals and wheat.

Getting your kids through the school day and through the afternoon is the job of the carbohydrates. That is why it is such common wisdom that a good breakfast is the most important way to start out the day.

Active kids involved in sports and such need protein to keep their bodies fit. But the rule doesn’t just stand for them. Every child needs the proteins found in milk, cheese, eggs and meat in order to maintain the immune system and build up musculature.

Your body also needs fruits and vegetables. These are the sources of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function. These substances are vital to maintaining dozens of physical systems from the brain to the immune. So make sure your kids get plenty of those.

While they may be healthy, that doesn’t mean your kids will eat them willingly. But there are ways to make it happen, whether you use coercion or simply prepare the food in a way that the kids can’t refuse.
